Our story & the people behind it
Three friends. One problem. Zero tolerance for bad ski rental.
In December 2006, Gunther, Manuel and Thomas started with a big idea and a small apartment — Manuel's, to be precise. The idea was simple: skiers should be able to book quality rental equipment online, in advance, without queuing, without inflated walk-in prices, without stress. So they built it. The company was called ALPINRESORTS.COM.
By 2014 they went all-in — 100% focused on online ski rental, nothing else. What started in an apartment, became a platform. The platform became a company.
Today that's fifty people with headquarters in Bratislava — all with the same goal: making ski rental so simple you don't think about it on holiday.
In September 2025, the story got a new name: Alpy.com. Cleaner. Sharper. Same team. Same shops. Same obsession.

- 2006 — ALPINRESORTS.COM founded. The world’s first personal booking system for online ski rental.
- 2009 — Marketplace opens. The platform launches across Europe. The first bookings roll in.
- 2012 — Snowbrainer acquired. New markets opened across Europe.
- 2013 — Hervis partnership. First full Simple Booking integration. Ski school services introduced.
- 2015 — Russmedia partners. Enters as majority partner. Market activity intensifies.
- 2017 — The Hoff signs on. David Hasselhoff becomes brand testimonial. Virtual Shop Partner & Delivery Service launch.
- 2020 — COVID-19. The season is impacted. The platform holds. The team adapts.
- 2022 — Simplytoski acquired. Acquisition of the French ski rental specialist. Expansion of the partner network.
- 2024 — 130 shops on Simple Booking technology. By 2024, 130 partner shops are using the Alpy Simple Booking platform.
- End of 2024 — Swissrent acquired. Acquisition of the Swiss ski rental specialist. Strengthening of Alpine presence.
- August 2025 — Rebranding to Alpy.com. ALPINRESORTS.COM becomes Alpy.com. Clearer. Sharper. The start of the globalisation phase.
